Friends of MS Purbeck
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that can affect the brain and spinal cord, causing a wide range of potential symptoms, including problems with vision, arm or leg movement, sensation or balance. It’s a lifelong condition that can sometimes cause serious disability, although it can occasionally be mild.
As a charitable organisation we aim to help and support anyone affected by MS in the Purbeck area. We are a group of volunteers that either have MS ourselves or have had family members with the condition. The group has existed in various forms since 1985 and some of our committee members were there from the beginning! There have been a lot of changes but the aim to support people is the same.
We fundraise and exist to be able to support people in the Purbeck area with MS, this can be in the form of a financial assistance, a visit, joining our weekly exercise group, our monthly socials and other events. We adapt to the needs of the individual where we can. We don’t give advice on the condition itself, there are plenty of better placed organisations for this but of course our members with MS are always willing to share their experience with others.
